Journal Entry 82: My Last Journal Entry :)

FINALLY THIS IS THE LAST JOURNAL ENTRY, NO MORE HAVING TO WRITE IT ANYMORE! YEAH THIS IS SO AWESOME AND I AM SO HAPPY ABOUT IT! After writing 82 journal entries, I think that writing journals really do help me a lot. I think I learned how to respond to questions faster and I can now write about one thing into two hundred words. Well in the beginning I was not really use to writing journals almost everyday and I thought it was a pretty lame and boring thing to do like writing it was a waste of my time. Now I think writing these journals became a habit which is actually sort of a fun thing to do because you get to share your own thoughts and ideas to other people and people might learn something from your journals. Well I am sort of proud of this blog because I never written a blog with so much posts, the most post I have written in a blog was like 50 posts but this one is like 82 posts. It is actually pretty cool to have my own blog, it is like having my own book or something like that. So maybe sometimes I can like look back through my journals and see what I have done during the whole year of 8th grade in English class.

Journal Entry 81: In Defense of My Treasure :)

In the story The Treasure of Lemon Brown, Lemon Brown would sacrifice himself to protect his treasure (his treasure was some old clippings and a broken harmonica) that actually meant nothing to others. I think Lemon Brown protected his treasure because it was important to him since his treasure has gone through many experiences like Lemon Brown gave it to his son before and his son treated it just like it was his own treasure although his son died in war so the treasure was sent back to Lemon Brown again. Well I would probably protect my treasure just like what Lemon Brown did since my treasure is important to me. In the previous journal entry I wrote that my treasure was the relationship between my family and me. Of course I would protect my family under some conditions such as if there was someone who talks about bad things about my family then I might talk back to them (a little bit like the story Raymond's Run where the main character, Squeaky protects Raymond, her brother and help his brother talk back to them). I would protect my family because the first reason is that my family takes good care of me so I want to protect them. The second reason is that they really mean something very very very precious to me and the third reason is that I love them really much.

Journal Entry 80: My Treasure :)

I think the thing that I value the most is the relationship between my family and me. They are like a treasure, very special since they really mean something very precious to me. I love my family very much and my family loves me too. My family is very sweet and my family is always there for me and they always watch my back. Although sometimes they can be a little strict but I appreciate that because they want to make me change so I do not do the wrong thing. There is always happiness and laughter in my family. I care about my family really much and so do they care about me too. When I need help, they will always lend me a hand. When I am sad, my family will always lend me a shoulder to lean on. When I am happy, there will also be smiles on their face too. When I am mad, they will always try to cheer me up. My family is a warm and welcoming place, which makes me feel safe and sound. My family is really valuable to me. They are the one and only family like this, no other family can replace them.

Journal Entry 79: My Background :)

In this journal entry I am going to write stuff about my background. My name is Ting. I am a thirteen year old girl. I have black hair, brown eyes, and yellow colored skin (of course because I am an Asian). I was born in Taiwan. My birthday is November 4, 1998. I have been to United States of America and Denmark for studying because of my family. Now I came back to live in Taiwan to study. I have no sister and no brother, so I am the only child in my family, which is "sometimes" sort of boring. I can play instruments, which is the violin and the piano. I learned violin when I was three years old and I learned piano when I was eleven years old. I can speak five kinds of languages, including English, Chinese, Taiwanese, Danish, and French. My main language is English although I am an Asian but I do not know Chinese that well since the first language I learned first was English where I can both read and write but for Chinese I am not that good at writing it. Well my background contributes to who I am today like what type of person I am and what types of stuffs I learned which I can do.

Journal Entry 78: Style :)

There are many elements of style in Raymond's Run but the two elements of style I am going to talk about is dialect and allusion. In the story the narrator uses dialect such as slang. For example, in the story there was something like "playing the dozen". By that the narrator means exchanging insults. The narrator also likes to use the word "ain't", which is a slang word. There was also allusion in the story. For example, Squeaky was compared to Mercury since Squeaky runs super fast. Another example is Mr. Pearson (teacher) was compared to "Jack and the Beanstalk"since Mr. Pearson is very clumsy. The two elements of style in The Treasure of Lemon Brown is mood and conflict. For example the mood in the story was sort of depressing and gloomy. There was many conflicts in the story. For example, there were three bad guys coming into the old tenement wanting to steal Lemon Brown's treasure but Lemon Brown did not give them his treasure because it was very important to him, so the bad guys decided to go after Lemon Brown and hit him. That is external conflict because it is conflict between Lemon Brown and three bad guys.

Journal Entry 77: Slang :)

Slang is a type of dialect. It is sort of like a type of secret language or something for young people which is informal. There are many kinds of slangs and one of the slang is called internet slang. Internet slang is used on the internet where words are shorten and cut off (abbreviated). Here are some examples and meanings of the internet slang:

  • Lol means laugh out loud
  • Rofl means rolling on the floor laughing
  • Lmao means laugh my ass out
  • Brb means be right back
  • Gtg or G2g means got to go
  • Aka means also known as
  • Omg means oh my god
  • Fyi means for your information
  • Cya or Cu means see you
  • Ttyl means talk to you later
  • Btw means by the way
  • Afk or Afc means away from keyboard or away from computer
  • Bbs means be back soon
  • Thx means thanks
  • Np means no problem
  • U means you
  • L8r means later
  • Afaik means as far as I know
  • 2b means to be
  • Ikr means I know right
  • Oic means oh, I see
  • W/ means with
  • W/o means without
  • Plz means please
  • R8 means right
  • Jk means just kidding
  • R means are
  • Ur means your
  • Asap means as soon as possible
  • Imo means in my opinion

Journal Entry 76: Analogy :)

An analogy is about comparing the similarity of two things that are sort of connected to each other. An example of an analogy can be like "the baby was like a feather". In that analogy, it is comparing a baby with a piece of feather. The two things are both very light and delicate. Another example of an analogy is "the eagle flew like an airplane". This analogy means that the eagle flies really rapid like an airplane. Another example is "the textbook weighs just like an elephant". In this analogy, it is describing that the textbook is very heavy just like an elephant. Another analogy is "getting a paper cut feels like getting stabbed by a knife". In that analogy, it means that getting stabbed by a knife hurts really much and getting a paper cut hurts very much too just like getting stabbed by a knife. Another example of an analogy is "running a race is like getting chased by a cheetah". This analogy is describing how when running a race people have to be fast just like getting chased by a cheetah. Another example of an analogy is "shopping is like being in heaven". The two things are both very happy stuffs to do.

Journal Entry 75: Fighting Words :)

In the story Raymond's Run the character called Squeaky talks back to other people when the people try to insult her brother (since her job is to take care of her brother). Well I do not really think that words are that important to fight about because if you know that people are just making things up to insult you or your friends then why even bother to care if the whole thing they say is just a lie?! Sometimes people keep saying stuff like "that person hate me and my friend for no reason" when they don't even know that they have hurt those people and they start acting like they are the poor ones when they are the ones really bullying others. Like once these group of people told me not to be best friends with one of this girl that I am very good friends with. Although I did not really want to do what they told me because they did not know that the girl is actually a very nice and kind person not like what they say she is scary and annoying. Then I help my friend say some nice stuffs and those group of people start to think that I am becoming an idiot like that girl. So then those people start to hate me just because I did not listen to them to not be friends with that girl. Well I think it is important to defend ourselves, friends, and family. Although people do not need to spend a lot of time fighting back because I think it is best to have peace and be nice to each other like this sentence I heard before, "Being nice to someone you dislike doesn't mean your fake. It means you are mature enough to tolerate your dislike towards them".

Journal Entry 74: Below the Surface :)

In the story Raymond's Run one of the characters called Squeaky likes to judge people just from the way people look like on the outside and the way how the people talk. This kind of situation also appears in real life not just in stories like Raymond's Run. Well I have been judged by someone before just because of my look and this happened many times. Usually when I change to new schools people will start out thinking I am a shy and quiet student (sort of because my expression is sort of emotionless <-- do not know if that really is a word but I am trying to say that I have no expression and a little bit serious). Although when the person knows me well they will think I am a very noisy and crazy student. I have also been surprised to discover something new about someone. Well there was this girl that came to our school, which is a korean, the first time I saw her I was like "oh god it is those kind of narcissism korea person". Although when I became good friends with her I found out she is actually pretty cool, and nice.

Journal Entry 73: OOPS! :)

In this journal entry I am going to write about an incident in life which is where first impression turns out to be wrong. First impression is like a feeling or comment or judgement of a person that you saw at first sight. First impression can be wrong most of the time since you do not know the person well at first impression so you have to know the person well to get to know the person's real personality. Also most first impression people already judge a person just after a few seconds they met although since you do not know the person well it is more like they are judging others' physical appearance not mental. First impression can be wrong because I met this girl before and at the first time I saw her, I though that girl was a very shy and quiet person but then I found out that the girl was pretty outgoing and crazy when you know her well. There was also one time where I thought this girl was very mean since she looked kind of scary, serious and stuff like that but when I knew her well, she was a really nice person.

Journal Entry 72: My Tell-Tale Ending :)

Louder! Louder! Louder! The sound of my heart continued to beat rapidly. I could not take it anymore. I was getting totally insane. I started rushing out through the door passing by the policemen that were about to chase after me out the door. While running I started screaming like a wild, furious monkey and I climbed up a nearby skyscraper just like a monkey too. When I got to the top of the skyscraper I found out that the policemen were gone. Finally my heartbeat sound was not that loud anymore. Suddenly I heard footsteps behind me! What could it be?! I dared to turn back and look. Oh my god, it is the police! How did they come up to the top of the skyscraper?! They must have took the elevator to come up here. Oh no, now I am trapped up here...Wait I have an idea! I can just push the police off the skyscraper since I am sooo crazy! Now my heartbeat sound was starting to beat rapidly again and even more loud! Now all I could hear is my tremendously loud heartbeat sound. I do not feel so good now, my head is getting dizzy and my vision was turning white. Everything blanked out. When I woke up I found out that I had just fainted and the policemen had caught me and putted me in jail! NOOOO!!! Now that I am in jail, I can not go home and eat the delicious corpse of the old man. So from there on I spent my life in jail.

Journal Entry 71: Hints & Foreshadowing :)

In the story Tell-Tale Heart the stuffs that the narrator says about himself is very ironic. Ironic means an event where one thing is express but the thing turns out the opposite of the meaning. You can tell that the narrator is insane in the story although the narrator keeps saying that he is not insane. The narrator is insane because he says " But why will you say that I am mad? The disease had sharpened my sense--not destroyed--not dulled them." The narrator also said "I heard many thing in hell. How, then, am I mad?" Another thing which is weird is that the narrator says he is not insane just because he can tell the whole story calmly. In the first paragraph of the story you could foreshadow that the narrator is going to kill this old man in the story just because the narrator did not like the old man's eye (which is a very stupid reason for killing someone) and also because the narrator is insane so he would probably do this kind of thing. I guess this story's overall feeling is to make the readers terrified and shocked. I also think that the narrator is also trying to confuse the readers somehow.

Journal Entry 70: Narrator :)

In the story The Tell-Tale Heart I think that we can not trust the narrator. Because one of the examples is that the narrator is saying that he is not mad in the beginning of the story although he really is mad. You can tell that he is mad because he says "But why will you say that I am mad? The disease had sharpened my sense--not destroyed--not dulled them." and he also said "I heard many things in hell. How, then, am I mad?". We rely on narrators to tell us what is going on in the story but some narrators are not reliable just like the narrator of The Tell-Tale Heart. Well I think readers can not really rely on narrators when the story is in first person (that is what I think) because then the narrator will have suggestion like there own idea then the reader sometimes think that the narrator might be wrong or the readers do not agree with the narrator. I think that narrators create unreliable narrators because they try to make the readers to be suspicious of the author or maybe just to make it more interesting and fun for the readers to read.

Journal Entry 69: Scary Stories :)

I am scared of MANY, MANY, MANY things including stuff such as, ghost and zombie. I am also scared of tiny stuff such as frogs, spiders, and cockroaches. Sometimes I think some dogs (wild ones) are scary too. When I see scary stuff I scream very loudly and my sound is very high pitch so it makes people ears hurt very much. I think things that make a horror movie or horror story scary is like unexpected things or actions and also sound effect like scary song or something like that. I have seen scary stuff like movies such as "The Ring". I think that movie is scary because it is like there is this little creepy girl (who is dead) calling to random people and telling them that they will die in seven days. That little creepy girl after seven days with come crawling out of a television and kill people. I have also been through scary events like one time I was sleeping and I suddenly heard someone whispering words like blah blah blah next to my ear although there is no one in my room which really freaked me out and I could not sleep good that night.

Journal Entry 68: My Style :)

I am not sure if I have any particular style. Well I am just a normal little girl. I like the color pink very much, I like to use the color pink on most things. Sometimes I think I am very childish because I like to tease others of course not in a serious way but joking. I am not very gossipy (talking about others) like most girls, I probably just talk about common things with others like clothes, music, and movies. I think I dress normal like every other girl although I do not really like wearing dresses or skirts. I think I have a little bit clean disease (OCD or something like that) because I really hate bugs plus somehow I find most things dirty so I think I am a tidy person. Sometimes I think too much and put myself in a bad mood so I am half optimistic and half pessimistic I guess. I think I do not react to things easily, I mostly just say oh or I laugh a lot (my humor is very low). I think I stay quiet most of the time. I do not like craving attention like being in a big group, I just like being with one to three friends. Well I am just a normal innocent little girl nothing particularly special.

Journal Entry 67: Betrayal :)

The poem, In Response to Executive Order 9066 by Okita Dwight has some betrayal events in it. In the poem, the Japanese American girl who thinks she is a real American girl was betrayed by her best friend which was a American girl named Denise. This is because the poem is during the World War II and that was when the Japanese that lived in America were the enemies of the Americans. The American girl, Denise did not want to be the Japanese American girl's friend because the Americans think that the Japanese Americans were giving away secrets to the Japanese. Plus during that time people were racist, such as they think asian people (yellow colored people) were not humans, they treat the asians like pets. The Japanese American girl then gives the American girl some tomato seeds saying that by the time the tomatos grows, she would be missing her by then. By that she meant that she was going to leave. I had been betrayed before too like when I was in seventh grade. Well it was like I was friends with this girl (lets call her girl 1) and she knew that I disliked this girl in the class (lets just call her girl 2), so girl 1 pretended to dislike girl 2 with me. Girl 1 told me some of her bad words and I told her too. Then the next day girl 1 went to tell girl 2 that I totally hate her and that I keep talking behind her back. Well I was sort of pissed when I knew that girl 1 went to tell girl 2 since I told girl 1 not to tell girl 2. Well some people were just probably born to be big mouths and dumb since that girl 1 does not get when I told her not to tell others.

Journal Entry 66: Real American :)

In the story "In Response to Executive Order 9066" by Dwight Okita, the speaker feels that she is a real American (although she is a real Japanese) because she says that she feels funny using chopsticks and her favorite food is hot dogs. She also mentioned that her best friend is a white girl named Denise (somehow I find that sort of racist of her to say because she states out the girl is "white"). The speaker was friends with the white girl although the white girl turned on her when the Japanese Americans became the enemies of Americans, so you can tell that this story is written in the World War II. I think the speaker includes these details probably because she really likes doing American things, I think she is also showing off and she wants be treated equally by the Americans so she calls herself a real American not a Japanese American. Although I think it is sort of lame of her to think herself as a real American just because she lives in America and she likes doing American things but she has Japanese blood so I think she can not go around saying to people that she is a real American. Well to prove that I am a real Taiwanese. I have Taiwanese blood, I live in Taiwan, I look Taiwanese, and I respect Taiwanese people (not like I am a racist asian person such as that weird author saying that she is a real American).

Journal Entry 65: General Conditions :)

The place in the story Camp Harmony can be described as a very cramped and very dirty place. You can tell from the details from the story that the camp is not well built. The place is cramped because the whole room is only about a size of a living room. Plus there are a lot of piggies and chickens in that place which just makes the place dirty. The place is also divided up into little areas such as A, B, C, and D. The place also sucks because they had many rules like they have to been in there room at nine o'clock and at ten o'clock they have to have there lights out in there room. They also have a bad lunch which is two canned sausages, one lob of boiled potato, and a slab of bread. I guess that Camp PAS is a whole lot better than Camp Harmony. At least in Camp PAS we did not have that weird rules like in Camp Harmony and our lunch is not that terrible like Camp Harmony's although it is still not yummy. In some happy camps I guess people can cook marshmallows over fires. People could also sing and dance to happy songs. Although almost all camps are boring and bad.

Journal Entry 64: Camp Harmony? :)

The word harmony means peace, calm, joy, happiness, and unity. It also means like a tuneful sound as in melody. Although in the story written by Monica Sone, the word harmony is used as peace, calm, joy, happiness, and unity. I think the name Camp Harmony is an appropriate name for the camp, although the name may sound very simple and general. Plus Camp Harmony sounds like something positive not something negative. The name, Camp Harmony would probably attract many people to go there and join because if the title was something like Camp Scary or Camp Death or Camp Boring no one will want to go there since it sounds very creepy and also bad. The author uses the adjective, hopefully to describe the camp name because I think she thinks the camp name is okay, at least it sounds like something peaceful and cheerful. If I had to give a camp a name it would be called Happy Camp or Camp with Rainbows and Unicorns or Camp of Smiley Faces or Join the Camp with FREE Cookies. I choose these names because they all sound positive and happy, which makes people want to come and join the camp.

Journal Entry 63: Camp Pictures :)

There is this picture in our textbook on page 471, which looks very plain and very boring. The place in the picture seems very vacant, since I can only see one person in that picture and a few houses. I guess life there must be boring since there are only houses and NO SHOPS (how can people survive without shopping?!) and there is also not even a McDonalds or 7 eleven! It looks like a pretty quiet place because there is no cars and not much people on the streets. The place in the picture looks pretty dry and dusty, although there are a few puddles on the ground. I guess everybody is hiding inside the houses, since the windows are open. I do not really like the place in the picture, it looks so creepy with only a little people there. I like crowed places where there is many people. The place in the picture looks totally different from the place I live in. The place I live in is like totally crowed with people and very noisy. Plus there are many shops (HURRAY~), buildings, houses, and transportation. Well I am happy I do not live in a lonely place like in the picture.

Journal Entry 62: Spring Break :)

Well now I have to go to school again (which means I have type this journal although I get to share stuff), which really sucks because I do not want spring break to end. Over the spring break I did many things. In the beginning of the break I spent most of the time going on a graduation trip with my classmates to Bali, Indonesia. In Bali the weather was very sunny and humid, which is better than the weather in Taiwan. It was pretty fun in Bali because we went rafting and other stuff like that. Although the bad part I remember that happened was that there was many mosquitos (I HATE MOSQUITOS!!!) and now my skin color is more dark because of the sun. Other than going on a graduation trip to Bali, I spent the rest of the spring break mostly at home resting since I got a fever when I came back from Bali. My fever was like really high about like 39!!! And I looked really scary and pale. There was like one time I looked in the mirror where I sort of scared myself because I looked really pale because of my fever. Now I am happy that my fever is gone.

Journal Entry 61: Film V Book :)

Have you ever thought how films and books are alike and different? Well films and books can be alike for example films still have the same main idea (by that I meant plot) as books and also films also have the same characters as in the book. Although films and books can be different too because films mostly include the more important events but not the teeny tiny events. So, I think that it is best to read the book first then watch the film since the book contains more details than the film. Also when you are reading you can also imagine the characters and places. Not like it is already shown to you like in the film. Today in class we watch the movie of the book the Hatchet. The movie was sort of different from the book. Like when the plane was about to crash Brian decided to land on the water in the book but in the movie Brian landed on the water by accident not like he planed it. There was also a part where in the movie Brian ate worms although in the book Brian did not eat worms. In the book Brian saw a bear but Brian knew the bear would not harm him, so he was not scared although in the movie Brian was scared of the bear.

Journal Entry 60: Hip-Hop Language :)

Just to say first before I type the hip-hop language stuff. I am really not that good at hip-hop language, so I guess this journal entry is going to be very sucky. So do not expect this journal entry is going to be good. Oh and by the way I am not sure if I can swear in this but I did so too bad. Here it goes:  I ain't have an idea how to type ma journal. I waste ma time thinkin' bout how to begin ma journal everyday. Just like this one. I ain't good at this freakin' sh*t. Ma brain ain't lettin' me think bout mo to write. Yo dude am I even typin' this right? What mo should I write? All I think bout is that I ain't gonna finish this cr*p before 1 o'clock in da midnight. I gotta finish this fasta lika ninja. Or else I am gonna wake up lookin' lika panda with black circles around ma eyes in da morning. Man I wanna give up but no I ain't gonna cuz I am almost finish typin' ma 200 words of ma journal. Hey b*tch I am freakin' tired and I wanna sleep. HELL YEAH! I am finish with this journal and now I can finally go to sleep.

Journal Entry 59: Epic Language :)

Well first of all I am not really sure how to write in epic language. Since, it is suppose to sound fancy and elegant and I do not usually write like that. I think it is suppose to be something like "I am FANCY". Wow that sounds so fancy. Well anyways I am just going to start my fancy talk now and my topic is about my daily life. Here it goes:
It is 6 o'clock in the morning and I wake up feeling fancy. I walk fancily to take the fancy HSR to the fancy PAS. Now the fancy me has arrived at school. I go to take my first fancy subject, which is fancy math. Even getting bored in math class is also very fancy. Now the bell rings  a fancy tone. I go to my next fancy class which is English class. Here in English class we have to write fancy things, such as this fancy journal I am writing now. After this fancy class is lunch. At lunch we eat fancy things everyday (yeah right!). We have fancy food like, fancy rice, fancy noodles, fancy veggies, fancy tofus, fancy meats, and a lot of more delicious fancy foods. When lunch is over, I have two more fancy periods of fancy school. Finally after these two fancy periods of fancy school, I can fancily go home. Here in my fancy home I have to finish my fancy school homework then I can go have my fancy dinner and take a fancy shower. After all of these fancy things are over I can go have my fancy sleep. At last my fancy day is over!
Well I don't really think this writing is written in epic language. Although it sounds very fancy and my topic is about an everyday activity, so I guess I did follow the instructions.

Journal Entry 58: Luck? :)

Does Brian have luck? Well yeah, I think he has luck, since he is a thirteen year old boy that can survive all by himself in the Canadian woods for about 2 months. Brian is also lucky because he became more observant and creative, such as he can build fire and catch food (birds and berries). Although Brian has also bad luck because the plane he was taking to visit his father had a pilot with a heart attack problem. Plus he is lost in the woods. Brian also gets attacked by a porcupine, tornado and a moose. I think to get good luck, you will need to like pray, or you can go find a four leaf clover, or you find a leprechaun. Bad luck is like, you see a black cat that pass by you, or you spill salt, or you walk under a ladder, or you break a mirror.Well I do not really believe in luck, since I do not really think that there was any time that something I wanted to happen, happened. Like there was one time in math class where our class had a test, which is multiple choice. I suck at math really much, so I just guessed on some of the questions but I did not get them correct.

Journal Entry 57: What Makes Fire? :)

In the book called Hatchet, the main character which is Brian tries to make a fire. Brian failed many times to make a fire but at last he could make a fire. The three things he used was his hatchet (to make sparks), wood (to cause friction), and the last thing was oxygen (heat). Although before I read this book, I thought that rubbing two sticks of wood together could make fire because I saw that it can happen in many television shows. Brian at first tried using two sticks of wood to make fire, although it could not work, not like how it shows in many tv shows. Brian then uses his hatchet to make fire because at first he was sleeping in the dark until there was this creature moving around inside his shelter, which is a porcupine. Then Brian threw his hatchet at the porcupine but he didn't aim, so instead he aimed the wall by accident, which prevented sparks. Then he tried adding the sparks into the wood (the wood has to be dry, not wet), although the sparks faded quickly. Brian then added the sparks into the wood then he blew air into it, which kept the sparks on the wood.

Journal Entry 56: Lost in the Woods :)

If I was suddenly lost in the woods, first of all I would scream because that is what I usually do when I end up with something I can not deal with by myself. I do not know any survival techniques because I sort of hate nature pretty much, so I do not go to the places like mountains or forests very often. I guess I would panic a lot but if I had my phone with me then I would just call 911 and awesome heroes will come save me from this horrible place. Although I think that getting lost in the forest is better than getting lost in the desert or mountain. First of all the desert is too HOT and DRY and you can not find water there. Getting lost on the top of the mountain would be also bad because, you can not get a lot of air plus there are crazy, little monkeys living in the trees that might come out and attack you. If you were lost in the forest you might find some bushes with food, such as berries. In the forest you can also find wood to make fire. Although getting lost in the forest can also be bad because there are bears living in the forest, which is scary, since the bears can tear you up into tiny, little pieces.

Journal Entry 55: Personal Assets :)

In the book we just read, which is called Hatchet, the main character that is Brian Robeson crashes in this Canadian forest and tries to survive in the forest. Brian's personal assets is that his mother gave him this hatchet, which was pretty useful for him. The hatchet was very valuable to Brian because he can use that to make fire, build shelter, make weapons, and IT WAS EVERYTHING TO HIM!!! Brian also learned from a television show about turtles, which also helped him because then he will know what type of eggs that he found. Brian also got some ideas from his friend or teacher (I forgot which one) that he should think in a positive way. For my assets I think it is my parents because they encourage me to learn and explore new things, like when I was little I wanted to learn violin and my parents worked hard to let me go take violin classes, although sometimes I hate violin because I have to practice it for a long time. My parents also support me a lot, like my parents yell at me because they want me to learn in the correct way not the wrong way although there yelling might be very annoying sometimes. Well it is just that I think my parents don't want me to turn into a bad kid, so they keep reminding me.

Journal Entry 54: Solving Problems :)

I think I solve real-life problems by using my previous knowledge. For example I learn a lot of useful stuffs in television shows or movies or magazines or from people or maybe from a book, like the book we just read in class, which is called Hatchet. Although I think I solve most of things by screaming first because I think it is sort of a habit for me to scream at things. I guess that most of my classmates have heard me scream many times. Sometimes when I see spiders or other disgusting creatures I scream first before I kill them. After reading the book Hatchet, I think that I learned many new things from that book. I learned many things from Brian (the main character in the book Hatchet), like how to survive by learning how to make a fire, how to make a bow and arrow, how to build shelter, how to find food and how to use a hatchet. I also learn stuff like math in school, so I can solve math problems in daily life like when I go purchase something at a shop, I can use math at that time, which is actually pretty useful.

Journal Entry 52: You & Nature :)

What do I think about nature? I think that nature can be good and also bad at the same time. But most of the time, I hate nature pretty much actually, since there is A LOT of bugs and insects that I am afraid of, where I scream very loudly when I see the bugs and insects. INSECTS AND BUGS ARE SOOOOOO HATEFUL, HATEFUL HATEFUL, AND HATEFUL!!! I am even afraid of frogs and most of other reptiles too because they look gooey and mushy. I am also allergic to some flowers with pollen, which is really annoying for me because I will keep sneezing. Well on the other hand, there are also good things about nature. For example there is FOOD and WATER!!! Well if we did not have food and water then we would all die and then we will not exist on this world, where I will not be able to write in this journal entry. The scenes of nature can be also a beautiful thing too but some creatures may be creepy like what I just mentioned in the previous sentences, which are bugs, insects, and reptiles. I would probably love nature very much if there was no bugs, no insects, and no reptiles.

and they are not harmful,
Not like a hobo.

but sometimes crazy.
Because the cat ate a rat.

that approaches,
at my floor,
without knocking on the door.
Pretending they are coaches.

Journal Entry 45: List Poem :)

In the last blog entry, we all wrote a list with tens things about whatever we like. I wrote about my ten favorite brands, which are Hollister, Abercrombie & Fitch, Harajuku Lovers, Converse, Vans, Adidas, Paul Frank, Kipling, Wetseal, and H&M. Now I am going to make a poem with these ten words included. Here it goes:

Cookie Monster was on his way to the grocery store,
when he suddenly passed by Hollister.
He went to open the door,
on the door there was a picture of a monster.

Cookie Monster wore an Abercrombie & Fitch T-shirt,
and it was cute.
He also wore Wetseal socks with a picture of a skirt,
his socks smelled like rotten fruit.

With his stinky socks he was kicked out of Hollister,
Cookie Monster look through his bag and got out Harajuku Lovers' perfume.
He sprayed it on his stinky socks which was bought from H&M and was made in Jupiter,
now his socks had a good, sweet fume.

On the street he tripped on a pair of Converse,
Cookie Monster kept the pair of Converse that was free.
The pair of Converse he found was hard to find on the universe,
he named the pair of Converse, Marie.

Cookie Monster was greedy so he went to buy more shoes,
he went to buy a pair of Vans.
In the store they had no sizes that fitted him since Cookie Monster wears 50cm shoes,
so Cookie Monster walks out of the store and starts to dance.

While dancing he starts to throw Adidas shoes at people,
the people start yelling at him.
Cookie Monster tries to stop them from yelling and it was not simple,
the people think that he is crazy and the people were scared of him.

Cookie Monster called his best friend for help,
his best friend was Paul Frank.
Paul Frank could not help,
Paul Frank was busy robbing a bank.

Suddenly a person sprayed graffiti on his Kipling backback,
Cookie Monster got mad since his backpack was now ruined.
He tried to cheer himself up so he ordered a Big Mac,
Cookie Monster was no longer maddened

THE END!

Journal Entry 43: Elements of Poetry :)

Well this is the third journal entry about poetry and that really really sucks. I hate really poetry a lot and I mean like I HATE IT VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY MUCH!!!! I "think" for poetry there are elements of poetry that are similar to elements of literature such as the plot, the setting, the character, the conflict, and the resolution. Plot is like the chain of related events in the . Setting is like the time or location of the poem. Character is like a person in the poem. Conflict is like the problem of the poem. There are two types of conflicts, one of them is internal conflict and the other one is external conflict. Internal conflict means that the character is having a problem with themselves or with natural disaster and external conflicts means that the character is having a conflict with another character. Today in English class we learned the elements of poetry and I only remember there are stuffs like rhyme, alliteration, assonance, figurative language, meter, and there is more but I forgot. Rhyme for example is like cat, fat, hat, mat, sat, and rat.  Alliteration is repetition of initial constant sounds in two or more words or syllables. Figurative language is like hyperbole, metaphor, personification, and simile. Meter is like stressed syllables and unstressed syllables.

Journal Entry 42: Ode :)

I really hate writing poems because it is boring and I do not know much about them. So I am not really sure what odes are about and what it means plus I never wrote an ode before. Well I guess that if I am writing an ode, it might look like something written by a first grader because I suck at writing poems and it will turn out very simple. For English class I am going to write an ode, which would be difficult for me. I am going to write an ode about things. I want to write an ode dedicated to my mom. Well my mom can be a very sweet person but also "a little" mean person sometimes. Well my mom can be a very sweet person because she has been through rough times with me and she help me a lot and she make me happy and laugh most of the time. I think that my mom is sometimes "a little" mean too (I think that I am not suppose to write that because what if my mom sees this?! Oh my god) , since she yells at me sometimes because she does not want me to be like a bad kid or something, so I should correct my mistakes. I think all moms are like that, yelling and stuff from time to time. Umm...so I think my ode is going to be for my mom to thank her and to tell her how much I LOVE HER~~~

Journal Entry 41: Poetry :)

Well I really hate writing and understanding poems and I do not know much about them, so some things that I am writing about right now may not be true. Poems can do the same thing as other form of expressions, such as a song because songs and poems are not written in like novel form or essay form (long and many paragraph). Songs and poems have meanings but although it would not be written out very clearly for you, you would probably have to make a inference of the poem or song to get the meaning of it. Well in some poems, some of the words rhyme and in some other poems, they have patterns, which is different from other forms of writing, such as a novels since not everything rhymes in a novel and the novels do not have a pattern. In some places around the world you can see that poems are use by some people. Although poetic language is not used that much around the world today but some where on this planet, I think that there might be some grandpas and grandmas somewhere using poetic language because I find poetic language very old days in some kind of way. Although I really hate poems, I remember one of the poems I saw somewhere which I find very funny:
I dig,
You dig,
She dig,
He dig,
We dig,
They dig,
This may not be a good poem,
But the poem is very, very deep.

Journal Entry 40: Winter Holiday :)

Well this is the second day of school, since christmas break is over, which I find pretty sad :( Now I will have to do a bunch of school work again but I do not really mind that because over winter break I did a fun bunch of stuff. For the first week of winter break I mostly slept until the afternoon, well the first week I didn't really do anything, I slept most of the time. For the second week of winter break I went to Osaka which is in Japan. I went shopping in Osaka which is awesome because some stuff they got in Japan they do not have it in Taiwan. I bought a bunch of stuffs everyday! Well I bought stuff like boots, earrings, scarfs, accessorises, and I even bought a HELLO ELMO thingy! Oh I also bought a COOKIE MONSTER! In Japan it was pretty cold and it also SNOWED which I have not seen for like almost a long time like about an year. Also for new years I did not really celebrate it because I was sleeping pretty much the whole day. Well now its 2012 and I hope that the world would not end like what the weird dude in the television said.
