Journal Entry 70: Narrator :)
In the story The Tell-Tale Heart I think that we can not trust the narrator. Because one of the examples is that the narrator is saying that he is not mad in the beginning of the story although he really is mad. You can tell that he is mad because he says "But why will you say that I am mad? The disease had sharpened my sense--not destroyed--not dulled them." and he also said "I heard many things in hell. How, then, am I mad?". We rely on narrators to tell us what is going on in the story but some narrators are not reliable just like the narrator of The Tell-Tale Heart. Well I think readers can not really rely on narrators when the story is in first person (that is what I think) because then the narrator will have suggestion like there own idea then the reader sometimes think that the narrator might be wrong or the readers do not agree with the narrator. I think that narrators create unreliable narrators because they try to make the readers to be suspicious of the author or maybe just to make it more interesting and fun for the readers to read.

Journal Entry 69: Scary Stories :)
I am scared of MANY, MANY, MANY things including stuff such as, ghost and zombie. I am also scared of tiny stuff such as frogs, spiders, and cockroaches. Sometimes I think some dogs (wild ones) are scary too. When I see scary stuff I scream very loudly and my sound is very high pitch so it makes people ears hurt very much. I think things that make a horror movie or horror story scary is like unexpected things or actions and also sound effect like scary song or something like that. I have seen scary stuff like movies such as "The Ring". I think that movie is scary because it is like there is this little creepy girl (who is dead) calling to random people and telling them that they will die in seven days. That little creepy girl after seven days with come crawling out of a television and kill people. I have also been through scary events like one time I was sleeping and I suddenly heard someone whispering words like blah blah blah next to my ear although there is no one in my room which really freaked me out and I could not sleep good that night.

Journal Entry 68: My Style :)
I am not sure if I have any particular style. Well I am just a normal little girl. I like the color pink very much, I like to use the color pink on most things. Sometimes I think I am very childish because I like to tease others of course not in a serious way but joking. I am not very gossipy (talking about others) like most girls, I probably just talk about common things with others like clothes, music, and movies. I think I dress normal like every other girl although I do not really like wearing dresses or skirts. I think I have a little bit clean disease (OCD or something like that) because I really hate bugs plus somehow I find most things dirty so I think I am a tidy person. Sometimes I think too much and put myself in a bad mood so I am half optimistic and half pessimistic I guess. I think I do not react to things easily, I mostly just say oh or I laugh a lot (my humor is very low). I think I stay quiet most of the time. I do not like craving attention like being in a big group, I just like being with one to three friends. Well I am just a normal innocent little girl nothing particularly special.

Journal Entry 67: Betrayal :)
The poem, In Response to Executive Order 9066 by Okita Dwight has some betrayal events in it. In the poem, the Japanese American girl who thinks she is a real American girl was betrayed by her best friend which was a American girl named Denise. This is because the poem is during the World War II and that was when the Japanese that lived in America were the enemies of the Americans. The American girl, Denise did not want to be the Japanese American girl's friend because the Americans think that the Japanese Americans were giving away secrets to the Japanese. Plus during that time people were racist, such as they think asian people (yellow colored people) were not humans, they treat the asians like pets. The Japanese American girl then gives the American girl some tomato seeds saying that by the time the tomatos grows, she would be missing her by then. By that she meant that she was going to leave. I had been betrayed before too like when I was in seventh grade. Well it was like I was friends with this girl (lets call her girl 1) and she knew that I disliked this girl in the class (lets just call her girl 2), so girl 1 pretended to dislike girl 2 with me. Girl 1 told me some of her bad words and I told her too. Then the next day girl 1 went to tell girl 2 that I totally hate her and that I keep talking behind her back. Well I was sort of pissed when I knew that girl 1 went to tell girl 2 since I told girl 1 not to tell girl 2. Well some people were just probably born to be big mouths and dumb since that girl 1 does not get when I told her not to tell others.

Journal Entry 66: Real American :)
In the story "In Response to Executive Order 9066" by Dwight Okita, the speaker feels that she is a real American (although she is a real Japanese) because she says that she feels funny using chopsticks and her favorite food is hot dogs. She also mentioned that her best friend is a white girl named Denise (somehow I find that sort of racist of her to say because she states out the girl is "white"). The speaker was friends with the white girl although the white girl turned on her when the Japanese Americans became the enemies of Americans, so you can tell that this story is written in the World War II. I think the speaker includes these details probably because she really likes doing American things, I think she is also showing off and she wants be treated equally by the Americans so she calls herself a real American not a Japanese American. Although I think it is sort of lame of her to think herself as a real American just because she lives in America and she likes doing American things but she has Japanese blood so I think she can not go around saying to people that she is a real American. Well to prove that I am a real Taiwanese. I have Taiwanese blood, I live in Taiwan, I look Taiwanese, and I respect Taiwanese people (not like I am a racist asian person such as that weird author saying that she is a real American).

Journal Entry 65: General Conditions :)
The place in the story Camp Harmony can be described as a very cramped and very dirty place. You can tell from the details from the story that the camp is not well built. The place is cramped because the whole room is only about a size of a living room. Plus there are a lot of piggies and chickens in that place which just makes the place dirty. The place is also divided up into little areas such as A, B, C, and D. The place also sucks because they had many rules like they have to been in there room at nine o'clock and at ten o'clock they have to have there lights out in there room. They also have a bad lunch which is two canned sausages, one lob of boiled potato, and a slab of bread. I guess that Camp PAS is a whole lot better than Camp Harmony. At least in Camp PAS we did not have that weird rules like in Camp Harmony and our lunch is not that terrible like Camp Harmony's although it is still not yummy. In some happy camps I guess people can cook marshmallows over fires. People could also sing and dance to happy songs. Although almost all camps are boring and bad.

Journal Entry 64: Camp Harmony? :)
The word harmony means peace, calm, joy, happiness, and unity. It also means like a tuneful sound as in melody. Although in the story written by Monica Sone, the word harmony is used as peace, calm, joy, happiness, and unity. I think the name Camp Harmony is an appropriate name for the camp, although the name may sound very simple and general. Plus Camp Harmony sounds like something positive not something negative. The name, Camp Harmony would probably attract many people to go there and join because if the title was something like Camp Scary or Camp Death or Camp Boring no one will want to go there since it sounds very creepy and also bad. The author uses the adjective, hopefully to describe the camp name because I think she thinks the camp name is okay, at least it sounds like something peaceful and cheerful. If I had to give a camp a name it would be called Happy Camp or Camp with Rainbows and Unicorns or Camp of Smiley Faces or Join the Camp with FREE Cookies. I choose these names because they all sound positive and happy, which makes people want to come and join the camp.

Journal Entry 63: Camp Pictures :)
There is this picture in our textbook on page 471, which looks very plain and very boring. The place in the picture seems very vacant, since I can only see one person in that picture and a few houses. I guess life there must be boring since there are only houses and NO SHOPS (how can people survive without shopping?!) and there is also not even a McDonalds or 7 eleven! It looks like a pretty quiet place because there is no cars and not much people on the streets. The place in the picture looks pretty dry and dusty, although there are a few puddles on the ground. I guess everybody is hiding inside the houses, since the windows are open. I do not really like the place in the picture, it looks so creepy with only a little people there. I like crowed places where there is many people. The place in the picture looks totally different from the place I live in. The place I live in is like totally crowed with people and very noisy. Plus there are many shops (HURRAY~), buildings, houses, and transportation. Well I am happy I do not live in a lonely place like in the picture.

Journal Entry 62: Spring Break :)
Well now I have to go to school again (which means I have type this journal although I get to share stuff), which really sucks because I do not want spring break to end. Over the spring break I did many things. In the beginning of the break I spent most of the time going on a graduation trip with my classmates to Bali, Indonesia. In Bali the weather was very sunny and humid, which is better than the weather in Taiwan. It was pretty fun in Bali because we went rafting and other stuff like that. Although the bad part I remember that happened was that there was many mosquitos (I HATE MOSQUITOS!!!) and now my skin color is more dark because of the sun. Other than going on a graduation trip to Bali, I spent the rest of the spring break mostly at home resting since I got a fever when I came back from Bali. My fever was like really high about like 39!!! And I looked really scary and pale. There was like one time I looked in the mirror where I sort of scared myself because I looked really pale because of my fever. Now I am happy that my fever is gone.
